I changed my PCV valve in my 2000 Ford Escort Zx2 i looked in the hole where it goes and there is foam in it?

Also there is foam like stuff on my air filter from the breather on the top of the engine that goes to the side of the filter holder. Just wondering what it is and how I get rid of it also it smells like burnt gas or oil or something...maybe someone has came across this it does idle rough But besides idling it runs great. PLEASE HELP!! You can email me at hoyt_usa_89@hotmail.com or you can instant message me. on the zx2 it is very important to change the oil regularly every 3-5000 miles. replace the oil filter with a ford oil filter and not an aftermarket one. the foaming is possibly from poor maintenance issues. you could try an engine flush next oil change interval. have also heard that sea foam works but have never tried itI changed my PCV valve in my 2000 Ford Escort Zx2 i looked in the hole where it goes and there is foam in it?
as far as the rough idle goes, all zx2's have the rough idle a little bit, where the steering wheel has a visible shake. but nothing where there is hesitation, or a really really bad rough idle. its just more of an annoying idle, I haven't tried as my zx2 has it, but have been meaning to, but by changing out the motor mounts are supposed to drastically reduce this roughness .
